The “Greenest” alternative
Or
“Breast is best”
When you think of the impact that producing formula has on our environment,
breastfeeding is a “no-brainer”. Formula is very good, breastfeeding
is a personal choice. There are times where a woman has planned to
breastfeed, but it hasn’t worked out.
Breast milk has been proven (since man’s beginnings) to be the perfect
food for baby. It helps prevent food allergies & obesity. Since
babies are born with little immunization, breast milk has the needed
antibodies. Breastfeeding also lowers both mom & baby’s risk of
ever getting certain cancers.
When breastfeeding, you don’t have to worry about storing the milk,
or heating a bottle. Everything’s ready to go-anytime of the day or
night! We can’t forget the bond that occurs with breastfeeding!
Note: If you do need to bottle feed, preferably
use glass or plastic bottles that are BPA free.
“Let Down”
At first, the “let-down” reflux might cause cramping in the uterus.
Nursing involves the natural release of oxytocin (a hormone that stimulates
the contraction of cells inside the breast to help push milk from
the ducts into the nipples).
The cramping is normal-the uterus is returning to it’s pre-pregnancy
size. You’re on your way to a flatter stomach! Also, when breastfeeding,
mom burns 300 calories a day. So, breastfeeding is good for both baby
& mother!
